Urinalysis is the defining test for microscopic haematuria and has traditionally been performed via microscopy. In recent years automated urinalysis machines, which use different technologies to identify cells, have been widely adopted. Understanding of these machines and how their use may affect evaluation of haematuria is interesting. Join in for the journey to understand the following objectives using case studies to facilitate understanding of the advanced technology.
- Haematuria – Evaluation using Dipsticks
- Microscopic haematuria- Utility of the flow cytometer and imaging to learn the Histograms, scatterplots and imaging to report dysmorphic, isomorphic and mixed RBC populations.
