Doing More with Less: Systemisation Solution in Haematology Lab
Laboratory automation is a necessary shift to meet the ever-changing demand in the healthcare industry. The haematology lab is no exception. Integrating state-of-the-art technology in haematology testing not only resulted in a leaner and efficient workflow but also facilitated timely diagnosis for improved patient management.
In this webinar lecture, streamlining the workflow of Haematology operations- from Full Blood Count (FBC) analysis to smear preparation to Automated Digital Morphology assessment – will be discussed. The advantage of IT rules and laboratory information system (LIS) for auto-validation will also be highlighted.
Advanced Clinical Parameters in Modern Haematology Laboratory: A Case Study Illustration
Technology in diagnostic laboratories needed to pursue progress to tackle the rising medical challenges in this modern era. The demand for new innovative tests to cope with patients’ clinical needs increases, goes for haematology laboratory as well. Currently haematology analysers are generally utilised for cell counts and differential leukocyte analysis, however, these analysers are in fact equipped for investigating many other parameters to provide substantial data than what they are intended for. Unfortunately, due to the lack of knowledge and application, they are yet to be employed to their full capacity.
We found that features of modern-day haematology analysers that comprised of advanced parameters which able to provide new dimension in diagnosis process. RET-He may evaluate iron status in the circulation on anaemia case, IPF as early predictor for thrombocytopenia recovery and WPC channel to indicate WBC abnormality more specific than DIFF channel. The parameters of haematology analysers are investigated for their clinical applications, however the current processes involved manual operations which lead to subjectivity, complex analysis, and ineffective workflow. Automatic machine-operated systemisation is favoured to provide faster results with less human error hence improving reliability and productivity. Along with improving the system of haematology analysers, the propagation of useful information acquired from haematology analysers help divulge the depth of disease states’ understanding.
We hope you will enjoy the webinar and thereafter spare us a few minutes of your time to fill a short survey.
